Answers to Our Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Before You Call:

How much do plumbing repairs usually cost?
Every situation is a little different, so pricing depends on what’s actually going on behind the scenes. Some issues are straightforward, while others take a bit more investigation to fully understand. Atlas Plumbing takes the time to assess the problem and explain your options clearly, so you know what to expect before any work begins—no surprises, just honest recommendations.
Can I try to fix the problem myself first?
For minor issues like a slow drain or a running toilet, a simple fix might work. Usually you can find answers on YouTube and attempt a DIY fix, if you have the tools and are handy. But when it comes to leaks, pipe repairs, or anything behind walls or under the ground, DIY attempts can sometimes make things worse (and more expensive) if something goes wrong. If you’re unsure, it’s always a good idea to reach out first - most times a quick conversation can save you a lot of frustration.
What if I already started a project and need help finishing it?
Don't be shy about it - we get these calls more often than you think. We respect the DIY attempt and give even more respect when you've had enough, or decide to call for reinforcements. There's no shame in that. Whether a project became more complicated than expected or just didn’t go as planned, Atlas Plumbing is happy to step in, assess where things stand, and help get everything back on track. The focus is on correcting the issue and making sure the final result is something you can rely on.
How do I choose a reputable plumber?

Look for someone who communicates clearly, shows up when they say they will, and takes the time to explain the work—not just sell it. Reviews matter, but so does consistency and professionalism from the first call to the final walkthrough. A reputable plumber stands behind their work and treats your home with respect, which is exactly the standard Atlas Plumbing aims to deliver on every job.

In addition, and this goes without saying, plumbing businesses in Ohio must hold a plumbing contractor license through the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board. This license authorizes contractors to advertise, bid and perform plumbing work for compensation.

Applicants must have at least five years of experience, pass trade and business exams and provide proof of insurance, bonding and state business registration. Licenses are renewed annually.

Other required business insurance in Ohio:

  • Workers’ compensation insurance for businesses with one or more employees. Because Ohio is a monopolistic state, business owners must buy coverage from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Comp.
  • General liability insurance with minimum coverage of $500,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage is required for licensing.
  • Surety bond of $25,000 is required for all licensed plumbing contractors.

Make sure whatever plumber you are working with has the proper licensing and insurance. In addition - their license number should be displayed on all marketing material - including business cards, wrapped/branded vehicles and websites. If you don't see a license number, you may want to ask about it. If you do see the license number, you can easily look it up on Ohio Department of Commerce OCILB eLicense Center website.
